Greenville's New Principal for the 2019-20 School Year
Meet Troy Pugmire..
Troy will be Greenville's new principal for the year 2019-20 following the retirement of Principal Ashcroft. Troy comes to us from Summit Elementary where he has been as a teacher then as a principal. We look forward to getting to know him and the leadership that he will bring to our school.
Don Evans (Intern in the Public Information office) sat down with Troy and asked him a couple of questions. Here is his response:
What's the best thing about working in education?
I love to see the light in children’s eyes when they learn something new. It is fascinating to see the growth and improvement of the students. I enjoy working with dedicated teachers who see their work as an investment in the future. I appreciate partnering with parents to help their children learn academics and good character.
Do you have anything to say to Greenville about becoming their new principal?
I’m so excited to meet the students and families of Greenville Elementary. I have a passion for education, and I’m dedicated to helping the students have a successful school experience.
What degrees do you have and where did you earn them?
I earned an Associate Degree in Elementary Education from Ricks College. From USU I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology, and an Administrative Endorsement. I also have an ESL endorsement.
How long have you been working in the Cache County School District and what positions have you had?
I taught third grade for seven years, fifth grade for eight years, and have been a principal since 2013. It has been my good fortune to work for Cache County School District my entire career.
Where are you from and what is your family like?
I was raised in St. Charles, ID, in Bear Lake County. My wife Brooke and I have been married for 18 years. Together we have three sons ages 16, 13, and 10 and three daughters ages 7, 3, and 5 months. My family is my greatest blessing! We love working, playing, traveling, and spending time outdoors together.
