Education Ballot Initiative: Amendment G

This coming November you will have a chance to vote on an amendment for Utah’s Constitution regarding public education funding. We encourage you to study the issue thoroughly and exercise your right to vote.

The Utah Constitution, as it is currently written, directs all state income tax dollars to be invested for education. This is the primary source of state funding for public education. The Legislature is not presently allowed to use state income taxes for other budgetary needs besides public education, which includes K-12 schools and, since 1995, higher education, as well. The proposed change in the constitution allows the use of income tax funds for programs that support children and individuals with a disability, in addition to using them for public education.

Our Cache County School District team appreciates our legislators as they work with us to support our schools! We are also grateful for the tremendous efforts our teachers, administrators, and classified staff make every day to support student learning.
