  • What is your plan once your child with a disability enters adulthood?
  • How does your child develop a plan for the future if he/she has significant disabilities?
  • Does your child with a disability pick up needed skills not taught in the classroom or the unspoken rules in society?
  • Do you see your child receiving further education and training once he/she leaves the school system? What if he has significant disabilities?  What if she has mild disabilities but struggles in school?

8:50 -9:00 AM      Check in/Registration, Housekeeping

9:00-10:30 AM      Person Centered Planning is a team approach that helps youth put together an action plan and allows for a support system to be put into place.

10:45 AM-12:15 PM       Families Helping Youth Develop Soft Skills such as communication skills, interpersonal skills, decision making skills, independent living skills, lifelong learning skills, etc.

12:15 - 1:00PM     Lunch on your own

1:00 – 2:30 PM      Life After the IEP . . . Getting Set for Lifelong Learning.  We all love to continue to learn throughout our lifetime.  This workshop will investigate what types of learning can take place once our youth with disabilities leave the public school system.

Parents, professionals, young adults, and youth with disabilities are all welcome!
