To celebrate the upcoming grand opening of their new distribution center in Garland, Utah, the Lakeshore Learning Materials administration decided to give back to local schools. One of three recipients of this generosity was Sky View High School, which received a fresh update of its faculty lounge and one physics classroom. Lakeshore provided new furniture and paint for each of these locations, to the delight of Sky View faculty and students.

At an open house event highlighting the updated rooms, teachers and students flocked to eat pizza, snag a gift bag, and “ooh” and “ahh” over the new materials. “These dry-erase desks are amazing. I want some,” one teacher gushed. As he greeted students, colleagues, and parents, Ogden was all smiles. “It’s pretty awesome to see it go from an older, well-used classroom to one that is specifically geared toward science learning,” he said.

For the Lakeshore team, the donations were par for the course. Seven team members from the corporate office in Carson, California, flew out to celebrate another gift completed, “the Lakeshore way.” Several joked about their boss, Ghazarian, who, even during the open-house meeting, continued to ask students and staff, “What do you think of this? How can we add more? What could make this better for you?” “That’s just Artin,” they said. “He always wants to make sure everything is ‘Lakeshore-ified.’” Ghazarian, to his credit, remained matter-of-fact about his team’s work. “Our mission is to serve kids, teachers, and families. That’s what we do. This community embraced Lakeshore from the very beginning, and we’ve found our home.”

The new distribution center occupies 1.3 million square feet, features full-automation robotics, and is expected to provide over 500 hourly and salary-based local jobs upon its opening in January 2025. “We want people to come to work for us,” Ghazarian said. “These jobs that we’re providing will give [Lakeshore hires] a chance to work close to home, so they can spend more time with their families. It’s all about family for us.”

Cache County School District and Sky View High School express sincere gratitude to Lakeshore for their contributions to making our schools happier, healthier, and more productive spaces of learning.
