CCSD athletes and musicians claim victories in Fall Sports
The Cache County School District is proud to have some of the region's best athletes and musicians. During the 2023 Fall Season, CCSD students have seen great success in boys' golf, girls' tennis, football, cross country, girls' soccer, marching band, and volleyball.
Boys' Golf
Congratulations to the Green Canyon boys' golf team! They claimed the region title this fall season.
Girls' Tennis
During the championship tournament in Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, the Green Canyon Wolves fought for 52 points, claiming their third straight 4A state title. "Our focus going into the day (at Liberty Park), really first and foremost, was to help each girl succeed and play her best at whatever position she was and whoever her opponent was," Green Canyon HS head tennis coach Camille Jeppson said to the Herald Journal. "I am so proud of all our girls."
Football
The Sky View Bobcats secured a 27-14 victory over the Mountain Crest Mustangs, winning the Region 11 championship.
Green Canyon beat the Bobcats 36-32 in the quarterfinals of the 4A football playoffs. They went on to defeat the number four-ranked Park City 21-0 in the semi-final 4A football playoffs.
Boys' Cross Country
The Sky View Bobcats battled it out to capture the 4A region title for Boys' Cross Country. "This is the definition of a team," Sky View head coach John Womack told the Herald Journal. "Every year, they have gotten better. It's awesome to see. This whole group has worked hard."
Girls' Cross Country
Congratulations to the Green Canyon girls' cross-country team for securing the 4A Region 11 title!
Girls' Soccer
The Green Canyon Wolves are the 4A Region 11 and 4A state champions. The Wolves ended their season with their eighth shutout in a row, claiming their first-ever state title with a 2-0 victory over Park City. Their overall record this season was 19-1. Congratulations!
Marching Band
The UMEA Red Rocks State Marching Band Championships was held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Utah Tech Greater Zion Stadium in St. George, UT. Ridgeline High School won the 4A Scholastic Award, the Outstanding Music Award, and the Outstanding Color Guard Award. Green Canyon High School won the 5A Open Award, the Outstanding Music Award, the Visual Award, and the Color Guard Award.
On November 4, the Bands of America Competition was held at the Utah Tech Greater Zion Stadium in St. George, Utah. Green Canyon High School placed first in Class AA. In their class, the Wolves won the Outstanding Music Award, Outstanding Visual Performance Award, and Outstanding General Effect Award.
Green Canyon High School's marching band has been the champion of its division for seven years straight.
Volleyball
Three separate Region 11 celebrations took place this volleyball season. Sky View beat Mountain Crest in three sets; Green Canyon defeated Logan in three sets; and Ridgeline beat Bear River in three sets. The Bobcats, the Wolves, and the Riverhawks all finished 8-2 in the region, each team sharing the region title.
Congratulations to the Green Canyon volleyball team for placing second in the 4A State Volleyball tournament!
