Celebrating success - CCSD athletes and musicians find victories in Fall Sports
Cache County School District is proud to be home to some of the region’s finest athletes and musicians. During the 2022 Fall Season, our students have seen great success in their respective activities. Students can participate in cross country, volleyball, football, soccer, boys' golf, and tennis during the fall. Marching band competitions also take place during the fall season.

After an undefeated season and taking first in region play, the Ridgeline Girls Volleyball team dominated Deseret Hills, earning their second 4A state title championship in a row. “I can’t help but be so happy about this,” Ridgeline head coach Jaicee Roden told the Herald Journal. “It feels just as sweet every time. These girls came in knowing what they wanted to accomplish and got it. They did well.”

The Mountain Crest Girls Soccer team also took home a back-to-back state championship this season, beating Snow Canyon 3-0 in the champion game. The champion title came after going 15-0 against their 4A competition. They had a 13-match winning streak during the season, and they didn’t allow a single goal from their competitors.

Green Canyon’s Girls' Tennis team also brought home their second State Champion Title in a row. The Wolves had all five positions advance to the finals, with three winning 1st place. Emma Murri took first in the third singles division. In the first doubles division, Olivia Phillips and Tori Jeppson took first place against tough competition. This was Phillips’ second consecutive state championship title. Phillips and Jeppson went 22-1, only losing one match together this season. Maren McKenna and Carly Nielsen took first in the second doubles. This is Mckenna’s third state champion title.
CCSD also had two high schools win a state championship this season at the UMEA Red Rocks State Marching Band Championships.

Mountain Crest High School Marching Band earned gold in the 4A competition. “I am so proud of these students. They worked so hard to become the best band and best individuals that they could become, and it's wonderful to see them work towards performing at their max potential,” Joel Yoder, Mountain Crest Marching Band Director, said. “Not only did they grow as performers, but more importantly, as quality individuals. This was an excellent way for students to celebrate the end of a long season. The recognition of their accomplishments helps them build confidence and a sense of excellence in their lives. It was also important for them to see that we all succeed together as a team - that every individual is an integral part of the group."
Green Canyon’s Marching Band won their 6th consecutive State Championship title, this time in the 5A division. According to director Jake Andersen, the band lost 48 seniors last year. This year, more than a third of the band were rookies. “We moved up a division this year and competed in the 5A division. I am so proud of what these students accomplished this year; it made all of the effort and time worth it!”
Student-athletes at each school were awarded Academic All-State from the UHSAA. To see a complete list of CCSD’s Academic All-State Students, visit the UHSAA website or view our recent article.
While we can’t acknowledge every athlete or team by name, we are proud to celebrate our outstanding district athletes and musicians' efforts, commitment, and accomplishments. If we have inadvertently missed a state champion team or athlete in this post, please let us know so we can add them!
