Brittany Foster named UDTSEA Program Director of the Year for going the extra mile to support driver education teachers

Brittany Foster

We are pleased to announce that Brittany Foster has been chosen to receive the Utah Driver Training Safety Education Association (UDTSEA) Program Director of the Year award! This statewide award is given annually to a person who exemplifies performance, tasks, efforts, involvement, training, growth, and aids in developing the program. Foster, who is our district’s Secondary Teaching and Learning Director, was presented with the award at the Utah Driver Education Conference in Cedar City on April 25th. Richard Gittins, the Driver Education Department Head at Ridgeline High School, was not surprised that Foster won this award. “Brittany definitely earned this award,” Gittins said. “There is no chance there is a better program director in the state.”

Foster went through the same endorsement program that driver education teachers go through to get their driver education endorsement. This wasn’t a requirement, but Foster believed it would help her better understand how to support the district’s driver education instructors. Gittins describes Foster as someone who is personable, always willing to listen, and quick to respond. “This award shows that Brittany understands the importance and responsibility of driver education,” Gittins said. “She wants to make sure that the driver education instructors in the district are teaching this to the best of their abilities.”
