Cache High honored with award for “growth in learning, healthy culture, engaging and high-quality instructional environment, and effective leadership”
Congratulations to our district’s very own Cache High for being awarded the 2021 Cognia School of Distinction Award! This award is given by Cognia, a global non-profit school improvement organization. For Cache High, this means that the school has demonstrated excellence in education and stands out when it comes to serving others and the community.
Cache High serves students from over two dozen small cities and communities throughout the valley. Their mission statement “Accountability, Character, Engagement” (ACE), also speaks to their focus on Adverse Childhood Experiences and understanding the importance of trauma-informed care. Cache High is currently serving 102 students with a 91% attendance rate. The school also houses the valley's Adult Education program.
Sheri Hansen has been the principal at Cache High for the last several years. She loves the energy and enthusiasm of the school’s students and describes working there as a “real treat.” She is grateful to spend every day of her life doing what she loves, at an excellent school.
CCSD Superintendent Steven Norton expressed pride in and appreciation for Cache High. “I don’t think there’s ever been a time that I’ve been more proud of Cache High than right now,” he said. “The fact that you have a brand new facility that kids can really be proud of, as well as just the right leaders, counselors, teachers, and staff. They are outstanding.”
On Cognia’s website, President and CEO Dr. Mark A. Elgart explains that the schools who are awarded the School of Distinction Award meet the Cognia Performance Standards based on their 2020-21 accreditation reviews. “Having earned the School of Distinction recognition, each of these institutions provides evidence of growth in learning, maintains a healthy culture for learning, supports engaging and high-quality instructional environments, and demonstrates effective leadership for learning.”
We are so proud of the teachers, support staff, administrators, and students at Cache High! They truly are an asset to our district.
