Preparing to Return to School
We hope that you are having a great summer. While we all want to hold onto summer as long as possible, we are excited at the prospect of welcoming your children back to in-person school this fall. As we approach the upcoming school year, there are a few items we need to make you aware of as you begin to make preparations for the return to school.
FIRST DAYS AND BEGIN/END TIMES
We will be returning to our pre-COVID-19 Monday through Friday school schedule.
All elementary schools will begin at 9:05 a.m. and end at 3:35 p.m. M-Th and 2:20 p.m. on Friday. All secondary schools (middle and high) will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m M-Th and 1:30 p.m on Friday. Please click the following link for a complete schedule of beginning and end times for all schools.
School will begin on August 19th for all students except kindergarten and preschool. Preschool will begin on August 23rd. Kindergarten students will begin classes on August 26th. Please click the following link for the 2021-2022 Calendar.
COVID-19 RESPONSE
While we hope that the worst of COVID-19 is behind us, we recognize that COVID-19 will continue to pose challenges for individuals, families, and schools.
We will follow a school regimen of cleaning high-touch surfaces more frequently and would encourage families, as we did last year, to be diligent with hand washing, good hygiene practices, and keeping children home when they are ill. Click the following link for our illness protocols.
The Pfizer vaccine has been approved for anyone 12 and older and that continues to be an option for anyone sending their children to school. Information on vaccinations is available through the Bear River Health Department website. Vaccines are also available at many pharmacies and health care providers throughout the community.
As per House Bill 294, masks are not required for the 2021-2022 school year. However, we welcome anyone who chooses to wear a mask while attending school to do so.
House Bill 294 also directs schools to work closely with their local health departments to monitor local conditions and respond appropriately. We will be working closely with the Bear River Health Department on a school by school basis to monitor local cases, respond proactively to positive COVID-19 cases in our schools, and take appropriate measures to keep students and staff safe. This will include asking individuals who have tested positive to isolate and informing parents of positive cases in school or classrooms so they can monitor their children for any symptoms. State law currently requires that we institute a “Test to Stay” protocol if a school reaches case thresholds of either 2% or 30 cases, depending on the size of the school. If we begin to approach those numbers in any of our schools, we will work with the Bear River Health Department on any additional measures needed to keep staff and students safe.
ONLINE OPTIONS
We still have online options available for middle school and high school students, but have discontinued our elementary online program. Parents of elementary students who would like to participate online can still access other options such as the Utah Online School through Washington County.
We look forward to another wonderful school year and appreciate the opportunity to educate your children. For more Back to School Information, please visit: 2021-22 School Year Back to School page
