A lifelong focus on prioritizing education — North Park’s new principal, Jullie Payne
Seventeen years' worth of working in education has taught Jullie Payne exactly what it takes to help students succeed. Helping others reach success and making a positive impact are just two of Payne’s goals in her newest position as North Park Elementary School’s principal.
Payne has been working in Cache County School District for the past 12 years. Holding positions as a paraprofessional, 3rd- and 5th-grade teacher, literacy facilitator, and most recently as the district’s ESL Specialist, has given her a unique perspective on the various aspects that help make education successful.
Curt Jenkins, current Director of Student Services for CCSD, worked closely with Payne as the principal of Providence Elementary during her time as a teacher there. He observed that she is a great listener, has the drive to get things done, and has tremendous concern for the students that she works with.
“I think she wants to be an agent of change for the benefit of students. Because of her work ethic and professional responsibility to students, parents, and teachers, she will be able to create a culture of learning and compassion,” Jenkins said. “Students, teachers, and parents loved working with Jullie. She will be an amazing principal.”
Learning and education have been a priority in Payne’s life since she was young. Holding play versions of school for her younger siblings helped her develop a passion for education, which she continued to develop while attending college.
Payne has received three degrees in education throughout her life, along with numerous endorsements. She graduated from Brigham Young University with her bachelor’s in Elementary Education and an ESL endorsement. Payne also earned two Masters of Education degrees — one focused in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences and the other in Educational Leadership.
Prioritizing education throughout her own life, as well as in the lives of students, has allowed Payne to see the tremendous impact learning can have on an individual. “It’s very rewarding to watch students’ confidence in themselves grow,” she said. “School is a wonderful place to learn new things, make lasting memories, and continue to develop into unique, special people that can make positive impacts in the world.”
Although she has been out of the typical classroom setting for the past seven years, Payne has continued to find new ways to interact with students while supporting the adults teaching them. She is excited to work closely with students again as principal at North Park.
“I’m excited to develop positive relationships with the students, parents, and staff members at North Park Elementary as we all work together to help students’ achieve academic and personal success,” Payne said.
Congratulations to Mrs. Payne on her new position as North Park Elementary School’s Principal!
