Sky View Health Teacher Kim Nield Spotlighted by Utah State Board of Education
Having a passion for education and health helped Kimberly Nield to find her dream job as a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Sky View High School. Nield has been selected as the March Teacher Spotlight for Health and Physical Education by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). Each month, the USBE selects an individual to spotlight who has been anonymously nominated by someone they know or have impacted as a teacher.
Nield’s nominator described her as having "an honest and open teaching approach that teenagers respond well to." They continued, "Mrs. Nield is one of those teachers that not only embraces the challenges and complexities of teaching health topics, but does it well, and in a manner that will impact her students for years to come.”
For 17 years, Nield has been working diligently with teenagers in Cache Valley as a health and PE teacher. Her dedication to teaching students about their health leaves a lifelong impact on those who take her lessons to heart. “I love the interaction you get with the students. Making good health decisions and goal setting is so important for this age and it continues for the rest of their lives,” Nield said. “I wanted to teach teens about their physical, emotional/mental, and social health, and how important all three are.”
