Learning the value of music at Nibley Elementary with DeeAnn Hansen
DeeAnn Hansen has always had a love for music. Her passion for music has guided her life and eventually brought her to her current position at Nibley Elementary School, as the music teacher. Hansen has been teaching music classes at Nibley for the past 10 years, after her family moved to Cache Valley from California.
Getting to see students grasp new concepts in music and conquer something that was difficult for them is what makes Hansen excited to teach every day. “It's fun to watch them succeed. I love seeing them be able to do what I asked them to do — to put the rhythms together, be successful, and just have fun in the music,” Hansen shared.
Hansen believes that having fun with music is something that everyone should get to experience. She teaches 12 classes throughout the week at Nibley to students of all ages and abilities. She strives to teach her students that music is going to be a part of their life forever — so they might as well have some fun with it.
“Music is everywhere” Hansen explained. “Students may not get music at home; they may never take a music class. They may never take piano lessons or go on and play in the orchestra. But at least they got some music from me.”
Thanks for all you do to give students at Nibley an experience in music, Mrs. Hansen!
