Sky View student achieves perfect ACT score
Ryan Larsen with Sky View principal Mike Monson
As humble as he is brilliant, Ryan Larsen is making a name for himself at Sky View High School. In addition to earning a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT, he also scored in the top 1% PSAT on a national level. His exceptional score automatically qualified him as a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship. This is quite an achievement, as there are over 1.6 million entrants every year. In February, a notice will be sent out to schools notifying them of student advancement to a finalist standing. Winners of the National Merit Scholarship are awarded $2,500.
In addition to his high academic achievements, Ryan is involved in other extracurricular activities. He is a member of the marching band and an ambassador for the school. Sky View band teacher Bryan Carpenter describes Ryan as a student who is “fully engaged, socially and academically.” Ryan uses his leadership talents, time management, and work ethic to not only benefit himself but also to help others while he serves as the brass section captain of the marching band. Carpenter notes that Ryan “does a good job at helping other people play their best.”
Principal Mike Monson describes Ryan as a “very unique combination of a strong work ethic, a brilliant mind, and great social skills. He is a student you’d love to duplicate.” Though there is only one Ryan Larsen, we are honored to recognize his dedication, efforts, and achievements. Congratulations, Ryan!
