As we look forward to reopening our schools we wanted to make you aware of some of our preparations to help protect students and staff.
First, we have purchased a cloth face mask for every student. The Governor has also sent us an additional cloth face mask for each student. That will give each student two masks. We will work with schools to determine the best way to distribute these masks. Parents are welcome to purchase additional masks and we are sure some students will want to sport their school colors or add their own flare. We recognize that wearing a mask all day can be a little daunting as we have been practicing ourselves. We are exploring creative ways to give students a break during the school day without compromising the safety and health of others.
Second, we are purchasing face shields for students who may have special needs that prevent them from using a face mask. Additional accommodations are also being explored.
Third, we will be providing hand sanitizer for each of our classrooms and will encourage students to practice good hand hygiene including old fashioned soap and water.
Just a quick reminder that our best defense against the transmission and spread of the virus is to carefully monitor symptoms and for students to stay home if they are exhibiting any symptoms. Specific symptoms to look out for are:
Chills Cough Difficulty breathing Fever of 100.4 or above Muscle aches and pain New or reduced sense of taste or smell Sore throat
Thank you for your support as we prepare to welcome your students back to school.
