After over 13 years as a counselor in CCSD schools, Jennifer Loscher has made a name for herself as a caring and inspiring colleague, teacher, and mentor. Mountain Crest senior Kaden Patten nominated as U.S. Presidential Scholar in Career and Technical Education
Congratulations to Mountain Crest High School senior Kaden Patten for being nominated as a 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar in Career and Technical Education! Patten, who has participated in the IT STEM program throughout his high school years, has used the skills and knowledge from his CTE courses to develop a popular Chrome extension, as well as to write challenges that teach coding online.

"My personal philosophy as a teacher is that you have to love students," Bell explained. "You have to love being around students and love teaching students. If you don't have a relationship with them, it doesn't matter what you know. Nothing is going to stick."

CCSD athletes dominate in region and state championships
2020 has been a whirlwind of a year, especially for CCSD athletes. With the uncertainty of COVID-19, many athletes were unsure if they would have the chance to practice and compete this year. Luckily, many sports and extracurriculars had seasons, and Cache Valley athletes competed at the highest level, winning many regional and state competitions.

South Cache students make plarn mats for refugee camps
Students at South Cache Middle School are learning how to think globally and act locally through service. This year, Andrea Talbot and Julie Derrick's 7th-grade classes are making woven plarn (plastic yarn) mats intended to help refugee families.

National Red Ribbon Week is observed in many of our schools during the month of October. The week focuses on educating students about drug and alcohol abuse and encourages students to live drug-free.

Marching Toward Excellence: Green Canyon’s Randall Beach is CCSD’s District Teacher of the Year
Green Canyon High School band director Randall Beach has been creating stellar band programs for over 30 years. Beach has a way of inspiring his students to reach their potential, and in the words of Green Canyon Principal Dave Swensen, “watching him conduct a practice is like watching a masterpiece unfold.” We are proud to announce that Beach is the 2020-21 Cache County School District Teacher of the Year.

USU Student Organizes Generous Donation of Masks, Hygiene and Cleaning Supplies
Many thanks to Jacob Snow, a student at the Jon Huntsman School of Business, for organizing a recent donation to our district of masks, hand sanitizer, and cleaner. The project was supported by young men and leaders in the Logan 5th ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Local libraries collect and donate over 440 masks for CCSD students
Many thanks to the staff and patrons of the Smithfield, North Logan, Mendon, and Hyrum Public Libraries! Under the direction of Brittany and James Britsch, over 440 children's masks were collected and donated to CCSD schools for students.

South Cache choir teacher creates virtual concert to showcase students amid COVID-19 shutdown
While the COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for educators and students, here's one example of how an obstacle can create a unique opportunity. At the end of the last school year, South Cache Middle School choir director Jason Petrovich worked with students to produce a virtual concert to showcase their talent and learning.

Painting the sky at White Pine Elementary
Students at White Pine Elementary School will notice something new in the building this year--a beautiful mural of eagles soaring by the school's skylight. The painting, which was created by paraprofessional Kathy Schultz, also includes hidden animals within its clouds.
