  • Dear Spring Creek Student and Parents,

It’s hard to believe that our summer vacation is slipping by so quickly, but we’ll be back in school before we know it.  We have been working hard to have everything ready for you here at Spring Creek Middle School, and we’re getting anxious to welcome you back.  It is vital that students do their best academically each day.  They must complete their homework each day.  After all, school is about learning. Student learning will include non-fiction reading, argumentative writing, thinking and problem solving activities, and using technology.  This year is going to be the best!  Please read this letter carefully.  It will answer many questions you may have.

Our theme this year is “Building Relationships: Fostering a Culture of Lifelong Learners!” Our goal is that all of our students develop a growth mindset.  How much will you as a student learn this year?  How far will you go?  How will you excel?

As a school, we have outstanding teachers who use technology as a tool in the learning process.  We also use many classroom supplies throughout the year.  We happily accept donations for any of these items.

Student registration and Immunization Clinic (If needed) will take place before the first day of school.  We invite you to come to the school on Tuesday, August 13 from 7:30 am – 12:00 or Wednesday, August 14 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm to register for the school year.  On these days, we will first verify that all 7th grade and newly registered students have received the required immunizations.  If that is in order, you will be able to pick up your class schedule, locker combo, pay your fees and lunch money.  Parents will need to fill out an emergency card, Acceptable Use Policy Form online, and pick up Parent PowerSchool Passwords.

Beginning August 1st, Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) forms for internet and network access and updates for contact, address, and emergency information for your student can be completed electronically.  To update, click on the “Ecollect” link available after logging into Powerschool: https://powerschool.ccsdut.org

We do have a late student registration day on Monday, August 19, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00.  Everyone is encouraged to register on one of these days.  We extend a special invitation to students to come with your parents and look around.   You will find out who your teachers are going to be, locate your classrooms, and practice your locker combination.  FYI, Lockers are assigned randomly by the computer.  Please come to register, and spend some time getting to know your school.   We will be there to meet you and answer your questions.

School Pay is offered as a method of payment, which you can manage through your students PowerSchool account.  If you do not have an account, you are encouraged to create one.  If you already have one, you will need to update it.  This allows you to pay for lunch money as well as school fees through PowerSchool.  We also accept cash or check for LUNCH money as well as SCHOOL FEES.  If paying with a check, please have a separate check for fees and lunch money.

Seventh grade students must provide proof of immunizations before they will be allowed to register.  Most students need a TDAP, a second varicella (chicken pox), and Meningococcal to comply.  If a student has had the chickenpox disease, a parent must sign the immunization card indicating so.  This is a state mandate, so please arrange for it, if needed!  You can bring this information to the main school office any time.  Bear River Health Department will be here during registration to give immunizations if needed.  If you have questions, please call the office.

The first day of school will be Wednesday, August 21.  Wednesday is a regular day of school.  Please be here ready to go at 8:00 a.m.  Plan on going to 1st period.  We will have a short orientation meeting in the gym at 9:52. Your first hour teacher will answer any questions that you may have about being a student in the best middle school in the state!  School will dismiss on Monday through Thursday at 2:45 p.m., and 1:30 on Fridays.

You can find your bus schedule by logging on to the Cache District web site www.ccsdut.org.  At the home page select the bus icon.  Input your address and then select Spring Creek Middle School and whether you want a.m. or p.m. bus stops.

You and your parents are invited to attend a Back-to-School Open House on Tuesday, August 20, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  We invite parents and students to visit our school any time during those hours to meet and talk with your student’s teachers.  Teachers will be in their rooms eager to meet you.  We will be selling Spring Creek shirts and sweatshirts that evening.  To help provide your student with access to technology, we will begin selling Liberty Cards (a discount card to local businesses) in September.  Look for more information after school starts.

If you need to drop your student off at school between 7:30-8:00 a.m. or pick your student up between 2:40-3:05 p.m., please do so either at the north-unloading zone located on the north side of the building or in the east parking lot.  It is very dangerous for parents to drive into the west parking lot during the above times since buses are loading or unloading.

In this mailing, you will find a Registration Fee Form, an Emergency Card, Spring Creek calendar, Bell Schedule, dress code, a supply list for specific teachers, and picture day information.  Other documents are available online at ccsdut.org/SpringCreek.  These documents include Registration and Starting School Info, Acceptable Use Policy through Ecollect Forms in PowerSchool, Immunization requirements for 7th graders, Picture Day Info, Fee Waiver Letter from the Superintendent, District Fee Schedule 2019-2020, Free/Reduced Lunch Application, School Fee Waiver form and other information.

We urge you to mail in the registration fees (available to pay online @ SchoolPay, through PowerSchool, lunch money (separate check please or online), Emergency Card, and current immunization records to expedite your registration experience and avoid lines.

We look forward to greeting each one of you at Spring Creek.  We are proud of the high standards that you bring to our school.  Please come prepared with a positive attitude and enjoy a great new year with us.  You can stay up-to-date and informed about what is going on at Spring Creek by looking at our Spring Creek Website, ccsdut.org/SpringCreek.  There is a yearly calendar of events to help you stay informed of important dates.  You can also get extra copies of important school forms if needed on our website.  If you have any questions, call us at the school 435-753-6200.  Look for us on registration day and say hello!

     Sincerely,

    Blair Powell, Principal
