Gifted and Talented Program (SEM)
The Gifted and Talented Program in Cache County School District, also known as the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), provides advanced learning opportunities for students in grades 4-6. SEM focuses on extending the language arts curriculum with in-depth and rigorous activities designed to challenge and inspire gifted learners.
What is SEM?
SEM is an enrichment program tailored and taught to a small group of students who are selected annually based on state assessments and additional school-level data. The program’s curriculum encourages students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and engage in learning that goes beyond the regular classroom experience.
Program Highlights
As part of the program, students in SEM will
- Meet with a SEM specialist weekly in small groups throughout the year.
- Participate in specialized enrichment activities designed to deepen their learning.
- Complete all required assignments in both their regular classroom and the SEM program.
The program ensures that gifted learners are supported in a way that enhances their potential while maintaining a balanced workload.
