Applications for the 2026-27 School Year
How does the lottery system work?
The Cache County School District uses a standardized, lottery-based system to select students for the Dual Language Immersion Program. This process is designed to be fair and transparent for all applicants.
Application and Initial Selection
-
Application Submission: Parents must submit their child's application by the published deadline.
-
Verification and Lottery: All applications are verified for eligibility. Students are then assigned a random, computer-generated lottery number. This number determines their selection and placement order.
Placement Preference Order
Applicants are placed into the program based on their lottery number, following a specific preference order to fill the available seats:
-
Native Target Language Speakers: Applicants whose first language is the target language (e.g., Spanish for a Spanish Immersion class) and who have no English proficiency are given the highest priority.
-
Siblings: Applicants who have a sibling already enrolled in the Dual Language Immersion program receive the next priority.
-
In-District Residents: Applicants who live within the Cache County School District boundaries are considered next.
-
Out-of-District Residents: Applicants who reside outside the district boundaries are considered last.
Notification and Wait List
-
Rosters and Communication: Once the classes are full, the official class rosters are finalized. The results are then communicated to the parents/guardians and school principals.
-
Wait List: Applicants who were not selected are placed on a wait list according to their original, random lottery number. This wait list is only active for the designated school year.
-
Late Applications: Any applications received after the deadline are placed at the very end of the wait list in the order they were received.
