Dance
High school students can participate in social dance classes and dance clubs, which provide:
- Physical health benefits: Enhancing fitness and coordination.
- Stress relief: Offering a creative and enjoyable outlet.
- Social opportunities: Building confidence, forming positive friendships, and engaging in teamwork.
Students explore a variety of dance styles while gaining valuable life skills and enjoying a collaborative environment.
Music Opportunities
Middle School Music
Middle school students can join:
- Band, choir, or orchestra in 7th and 8th grades.
- Guitar classes starting in 8th grade.
Students who did not participate in orchestra during elementary school are welcome to begin with Beginning Orchestra in 7th grade.
High School Music
Our high school music programs offer outstanding opportunities and provide excellent growth experiences for students who want to increase their musical skills and knowledge. Students may participate in:
- Classes and ensembles in band, choir, and orchestra.
- Guitar classes (available at Mountain Crest and Ridgeline High Schools).
- College credit opportunities through Music 1010.
- Performances and competitions: Students participate in events that challenge their abilities and showcase their talent in venues beyond the classroom.
Theatre Opportunities
Middle School Theatre
Middle school students may have the opportunity to engage in theatrical productions outside of regular school hours. These activities are site-specific and require approval from the school principal.
High School Theatre
Our high school theatre programs allow students to:
- Fulfill arts credit requirements for graduation.
- Study topics such as:
- Basic acting techniques and improvisation
- Movement and character development
- Rehearsal and performance methods
- Scriptwriting, stage makeup, and play critiquing
- Directing and backstage work, including costume and set design construction, lighting, and sound
Students may also audition for musicals and other theater productions and have opportunities to participate in:
- State-sponsored theatre conventions
- Drama festivals and competitions at the local and state levels
