Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences in elementary school play a crucial role in fostering a strong partnership between parents and educators, ultimately benefiting the child's academic and emotional growth. These meetings provide an invaluable opportunity for parents to gain insight into their child's progress, strengths, and areas for improvement while allowing teachers to share observations and strategies tailored to the child's unique learning style. By maintaining open communication, parents and teachers can work together to ensure that every child receives the support they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Step-By-Step Parent/Guardian Instructions for Scheduling Parent-Teacher Conferences

Click on the following link to access the scheduler: Parent Teacher Conference Scheduler.
From the Online Scheduler Home Page:
1. Choose your student’s school from the drop-down list and click “GO”
2. Enter the school password: birch (Note: this is all lower case)
3. Enter your student’s “Student ID”. If you do not know their Student ID, use the LOOKUP STUDENT ID button to access the system.
4. Verify the student’s birth date
5. A list of your student’s teachers will be displayed. Check the box next to the name of each teacher(s) you would like to meet with.
6. If you have more than one student in the school you can see all of your students’ teachers’ schedules at one time by answering YES to this question “Do you want to schedule conferences for another student?” then repeat the steps above for your other students. If you only have one student, answer NO to that question.
7. You will then see the available time slots for each teacher you selected.
8. Select the times that work best for your schedule.
9. Enter your email address (recommended) if you would like an email reminder sent to you. (Your email address is kept private.)
10. Once you have finished you can confirm your appointment details and print your conference schedule.
11. Write down the Confirmation Number (you will need this number to cancel your appointment)

PowerSchool and Canvas Information

Canvas Information

Parents can set up parent Canvas accounts and view the courses for which their children are enrolled. The process is simple and takes just a few minutes. Parents will need to work with their children to obtain the necessary "pairing codes" to complete the process.

School Safety

Keeping our students, employees, and school visitors safe is a top priority. We regularly review and practice safety processes and procedures in our schools.

BUILDING SECURITY
Extensive measures have been taken at each CCSD school to ensure building security. We ask that parents support these efforts by checking in at the main office whenever they visit the school. Additionally, students and parents are encouraged to report any security or safety concerns immediately. To report a safety concern, please speak with a school administrator or, to report it anonymously, utilize SafeUT.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Our district has adopted standard response protocols (SRPs) as part of our school safety plan, which establishes uniform, planned, and practiced response to an emergency or incident. Monthly drills are held at each school so students and staff can become familiar with and practice the SRPs. The SRPs are:

HOLD. Students and staff remain in the room or area.
SECURE. Students and staff are inside the building with locked exterior doors.
LOCKDOWN. Interior doors are locked, lights are off, students and staff are out of sight.
SHELTER. Students and staff shelter in place and respond to the hazard appropriately.
EVACUATE. Students and staff move to an announced location.

The mission of the Cache County School District's Child Nutrition Program is to deliver safe, healthy, and enjoyable meals to the students of the Cache County School District. It is also our goal to provide a safe, clean and cheerful environment in the lunchroom and to give each student a positive experience during their meal.

ACT

Understanding the ACT & How to Support Your Student

The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions that measures students' skills in English, math, reading, and science. Many colleges and universities use ACT scores for admissions and scholarships.

As a parent, you can support your student by encouraging regular study habits, helping them access test prep resources, and ensuring they register for the test on time. On test day, make sure they get plenty of rest and eat a healthy breakfast.

FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. It gives parents the right to access their child's records, request corrections, and control who can see their information. Once a student turns 18 or enrolls in college, these rights transfer to the student. Schools must have written permission to release records, except in certain cases allowed by law.

USBE Parent Portal

Parents have the fundamental right and responsibility to make decisions about their child's education.

This parent portal outlines the basic structure of Utah’s public education system, some of the rights of parents in the direction of their children’s education, and opportunities to engage with and support your schools at the state and local level.

USBE welcomes and encourages participation of parents and community members from all backgrounds. The portal is available in multiple languages, and USBE offers verbal translation services for further discussions with our staff.

USU Gear Up

The USU GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) initiative helps students prepare for college by providing academic support, mentoring, financial aid guidance, and career exploration. Designed for middle and high school students, the program aims to increase college readiness and success, especially for first-generation and low-income students. Through workshops, tutoring, and campus visits, GEAR UP empowers students to achieve their higher education goals.
