RHS & GCHS Student Work Featured in New York Times

"The Concrete Jungle" through the lens of Connor Smith.

Evan Winger (Ridgeline HS) and Connor Smith (Green Canyon HS) have long been adventure buddies. One day, they decided to take a short hike up Logan Canyon to the abandoned water treatment plant known as "The Concrete Jungle." The "Jungle" is covered in brilliantly-colored graffiti. The boys were so intrigued by it that they started taking photos of the building and of each other.

On a whim, they submitted those photos and a descriptive essay, "Stories That Grow in the Absence of People," to The New York Times' "'Local Lens' Photo Essay Contest." Months later, they were chosen as an honorable mention out of more than 1,400 submissions from across the country!

Note: Their submission is at the bottom, so just keep scrolling.

Congratulations, boys!
