Christie Williams: A Legacy of Love and Leadership

For Christie Williams, Lewiston Elementary has long been synonymous with home. After all, three generations of her family have passed through its halls. Her children were Leopards, her grandchildren are Leopards, and she was once a Leopard herself! Mrs. Williams has spent her 23-year career pouring her heart into the Lewiston community. It’s only fitting that she now represents the school as Lewiston Elementary’s 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year.
Principal Troy Pugmire expressed the school’s collective pride for Mrs. Williams. "This accolade is a true testament to her dedication and passion for education,” he said. “Christie consistently focuses on helping each student reach their fullest potential with genuine love and support."
Mrs. Williams has always framed her life through the lens of family. After earning her degree from Utah State University, she decided to raise her own family first. And as they grew, she decided to extend her family by entering the classroom. Now, over two decades later, her philosophy has remained rooted in the belief that her students are family.
"I just try to give my third-graders unconditional love," Williams shared. "I have high expectations for them, but I also want them to know that they’re loved and this is a safe space to make mistakes and to grow. They become like my own children as I teach them."
Her third-graders feel and reciprocate that love through acts of kindness and humor. "They’re fun!” she added. “I like to tease them, and they’ll laugh with me.”

While her impact on students is profound, Williams is equally vital to the professional health of Lewiston Elementary. She serves as the Vice Chair of the School Community Council and is an active member of the School Safety Committee, ensuring a secure and thriving environment for all.
Perhaps her most significant contribution to the staff is her role as a mentor. Williams is responsible for guiding all new teachers at the school, acting as a bridge for the next generation of educators. Her colleagues describe her as a "dream team member" and a constant source of inspiration.
"Working with Christie has been a fantastic experience,” one wrote. “She is a wonderful teacher who has a deep love for her students, and I often go to her for advice. She is not only my teaching partner; she has become my lifelong friend."
“Christie is incredible,” another shared. “She is always willing to share ideas, lend a hand, and support her teammates. We all love her caring nature and sense of humor.”
Whether she is sharing curriculum advice with a peer or staying late to ensure a struggling student feels supported, Williams’ influence is felt in every corner of the building. Her commitment to "going the extra mile" ensures that students and staff alike feel seen and nurtured.
As a beloved member of the Lewiston family, Mrs. Williams’ care and commitment will resonate for generations. "We are incredibly fortunate to have Christie Williams as part of our Lewiston family," Principal Pugmire praised. "Her efforts and enthusiasm make a significant difference every day."
