Post High and PEER

Transition services in the Cache County School District support students with intellectual disabilities, ages 18-22, as they prepare for adulthood.

We work with students, their families, and various outside agencies to help students set goals for their future. These services focus on:

Employment Readiness

Continuing Education

Community Access

Independent Living Skills

We Offer Two Transition Options

Cache County Post High

Located just north of Sky View High School, this program enables students to gain real-life experiences to build independence, while instilling a pattern of goal-setting and achievement.

Program Highlights:

  • Combines classroom learning with community-based experiences.
  • Offers unpaid internships at local businesses like Lee's Marketplace, USU Dining Services, and Aggie Chocolate Factory.
  • Teaches independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, and more.

PEER Project (Post-Secondary Education, Employment, and Research)

Housed at Utah State University (USU) Campus, the PEER Project is a partnership with Cache and Logan City School Districts. Utah State University provides support through the Center for Persons with Disabilities and USU Dining Services.

Program Highlights:

  • Focuses on helping students work towards paid employment, both part-time and full-time.
  • Encourages independent living, including housing in personal apartments or homes.
  • Many students use public transportation independently to access their school and community.

Transition Fair

Every February, we host a Transition Fair for families of students with special needs. The information offered at this fair provides valuable resources and guidance to help find solutions for your child’s future.

Families can meet local agencies offering sources of hope, financial support, and independence for those with special needs as they transition to adulthood.
