Aimee McNeil, Principal

I grew up in a small logging town in Oregon called Estacada. When I was eight years old, my family moved to Utah County where we stayed until I graduated from Orem High School. I came to Utah State University the following year and earned my degree in elementary education. In the meantime, I met and married my husband, Brett. We have been married for thirty years and have four children, two of whom are married. We also have a dog named Rudy, and two grand-puppies, Flynn and Maisee. 

When my youngest child started kindergarten, I began teaching 1st grade at Providence Elementary, and then taught seven years in 4th grade. During my last year of teaching, I had the opportunity of participating in the French Dual Immersion program. The next year I accepted the position as Literacy Facilitator at Mountainside and Wellsville elementary schools. This position was followed with being the Literacy Facilitator at Cedar Ridge elementary and the district Language Arts Facilitator for grades 4-6. 

My passion in life is education and lifelong learning.  I believe in the importance of setting and accomplishing goals, and providing students with the tools necessary to take charge of their own learning.  I value teamwork and the positive, rich learning environment that is created through collaboration between teachers, staff, and parents. I feel honored to have been part of the Summit Elementary team the last five years and look forward to another great year!
