Elementary Systems of Support

Cache County School District is committed to ensuring every student has the academic and behavioral support they need to succeed. Our tiered systems of support help identify needs early and provide targeted interventions that grow with the child.

Pyramid model of the RTI method. Tier 1 is grade level instruction throughout the day, Tier 2 is targeted instruction aligned to student needs, and Tier 3 is intensive individualized instruction

Academic Support

Our academic support framework follows a tiered approach that provides increasing levels of support based on student need.

Response to Intervention (RtI) is an approach which supports children in need of additional instruction in reading and math. This tiered instructional approach consists of:

Throughout the year, student progress is monitored and instruction is adjusted as needed. State and district assessments, including Acadience Reading (formerly DIBELS), are used to measure student achievement.

Twice a year, Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) are held for the purpose of reviewing the academic progress of each student with their parents/guardians. If you would like information in addition to these scheduled conferences, please contact your child's teacher.

Behavior Support

Cache County School District (CCSD) uses the Utah Least Restrictive Behavior Interventions (LRBI) Technical Assistance Manual to guide quality behavior instruction and intervention for all students.

Our behavior support model follows a three-tiered approach:

  • Tier 1: Whole-class behavior instruction and reinforcement

  • Tier 2: Targeted skill instruction and intervention

  • Tier 3: Intensive individualized instruction and intervention

Throughout the school year, students receive Tier 1 instruction and may receive additional Tier 2 or Tier 3 support based on individual needs.
