Policy No. 5380 Guidelines for Student Teaching

Guidelines for Student Teaching

I. Cache County School District is actively involved in the mentor and student teacher relationship and supports the concept of university and school cooperation in the teacher training process.

  1. All teacher trainee assignments will be made through mutual agreement between the participating university and building administrator.
  2. University supervisors will take the responsibility to instruct cooperating teachers in their expected mentor duties.
  3. Teachers and principals will participate in all teacher training programs on a voluntary basis.
  4. Guidebooks will be made available and cooperating teachers should avail themselves of the guide and become familiar with their content.
  5. If possible, not more than one student teacher will be assigned to any one cooperating teacher for any given trainee block.
  6. Elementary and secondary teachers who serve as cooperating teachers in the teacher training program will accept full responsibility for the grading, welfare, conferences and education programs of district students.
  7. Participating teachers will receive a stipend for their work with student teachers. This will be paid by the university.
