Policy No. 3140: Student Dress Code Policy
Cache County School District requires a school atmosphere that provides a safe, orderly, and disruption-free learning environment. Disruption is defined as, but not limited to, reactions by individuals to the clothing or adornment that cause the teacher/administrator to lose students' attention, to modify or cease instructional activities, or to address student confrontations or complaints. This policy has been designed to support such an environment.
Cache County School District supports the position that parents or guardians should oversee their students' appearance, and that school personnel should see that student apparel is safe, nondisruptive, and meets minimum clothing requirements.
Students are expected to dress appropriately for the setting and activity, without drawing attention away from or disrupting the learning process. While we want our students to feel comfortable, confident, and able to express themselves, there are specific guidelines all students are expected to follow. Students who do not comply with a teacher’s request will be referred to the school administration for corrective action.
Requirements for Student Dress:
1) All students must wear clothing appropriate to the setting and activity. In addition:
a) Shoes or sandals must be worn at all times while on campus; and
b) Undergarments and their traditional locations must be fully covered at all times.
2) Any illegal, threatening, profane, or lewd content will not be allowed. Examples may include images or language containing:
a) Gang content or affiliation;
b) Weapons;
c) Illicit drugs or alcohol;
d) Violence;
e) Advocate prejudice or discrimination; or
f) Profane, lewd, or sexual content and innuendos.
The school administration reserves the right to determine whether an item of clothing is inappropriate for the setting and activity. Students violating the dress code will be asked to remove/fix the offending items or return home, with parent/guardian notification, to change their attire.
