Policy No. 5160 Salary Schedules

  1. Teacher salary schedules will contain factors of training and experience as adopted by the Board. The B.S. Lane is interpreted to mean a level of training which qualifies a teacher for the Teaching Certificate required by his or her current assignment. Only bona fide university credit and actual public school teaching experience will be counted when placing a teacher on the schedule.
  2. Certificated personnel wishing to qualify for a lane change must notify the superintendent of Credits for the lane change must be earned and registered with the District before September 1st of the school year in which the lane change is to begin.
    1. All credit considered must have been earned since qualifying for the present lane and in the case of the M.S. 30 lane must be eligible for use toward a post master degree, program, credential, or certification. If the program culminates before the 30 credits are accumulated, the remaining credit may be miscellaneous. In lieu of 30 hours of credit as described above, 40 hours of miscellaneous credit beyond the MS degree may be substituted.

III. Educators coming to the District may be granted experience credit for their previous years of equitable teaching experience. The District will take into consideration the budgetary conditions when employing new personnel. Prospective employees may elect to accept less years experience upon accepting employment in the District. There will be no retroactive adjustments as a result of the policy change.

IV. Extra pay for teachers who have assignments identified in the supplementary salary schedule will be based on hourly wage rates or stipends as currently adopted by the Board of Education. Stipends may only be made after the completion of the activity season. Payment will be lump sum. Activities that are on-going during the entire year could have stipends paid to those individuals involved in two payments (mid-year/end of year).

V. Educators who are employed on a ½ day basis (e.g. kindergarten teachers) must work two years under this type of contract for each year experience increment allowed on the salary schedule.
