Policy No. 5155 Minimum School Day
A minimum school day for certificated personnel is defined as beginning one-half hour before school opens and extending one-half hour after students are excused for the day. Secondary classroom teachers are expected to teach every class period except for one which is to be designated by the principal as a preparation period. The certified professional contract provides that additional assignments may be made by the principal\supervisor who should make every effort to distribute the workload as equitably as possible and should keep extra assignments and duties to a minimum.
- These guidelines may be modified by the principal and the School Community Council with the approval of the director and superintendent due to early\late starting times. In all cases, the modification will be school wide, and the total modified time will equal before and after school contractual time.
- Exceptions to the above may be made only by the Board of Education.
