Policy No. 3510 Parent & Family Engagement in Education

The Board of Education is committed to the observance of federal and state laws for the support of students to assist them in becoming college and career ready.

The Board of Education supports federal law and its programs to assist in the support of students, specifically Title I: Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged, Title III: Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Students, Title VI: Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native Education, and Education for Homeless Children and Youth.

The Board of Education recognizes and supports that school, parent, and family partnerships, as outlined in federal programs, are evidence-based strategies to increase student performance and academic achievement. As such, the Board recognizes and encourages school, parent, and family participation in the school system’s Title I, Title III, and Title VI programs. The Board views the education process as a cooperative effort among schools, parents/guardians, and the community.

The Board delegates to the superintendent and district administration responsibility for developing administrative regulations to put into operation programs, activities, and procedures for parent and family engagement in accordance with state and federal law.
