Class of 2020
  • Sky View High School Graduation Information

Here is some final information as we plan for next week’s commencement exercises.   You will never experience another graduation like this….so don’t miss it!

Friday, May 22nd- “Light the Night”

    • Graduating Seniors around the valley are turning off lights at 9:55 p.m. and all lights on at 10:00 p.m.  Our Senior class officers have asked everyone to join in by leaving your lights on for 20 minutes and 20 seconds.  We will also turn on the lights on the football field for that same amount of time to celebrate the class of 2020.

Wednesday, May 27th - Senior Activity

    • We will be having a senior activity from 7:00pm-8:00pm in the circle drive on the west side of the school.  It will be a drive through BBQ, where the meal will be handed to you (so come hungry). Each Senior will also have a chance to “chalk the walk” and sign your name to the list of the Sky View Class of 2020 on the sidewalk in front of the school.

    Thursday, May 28th - Graduation

    • We will be holding a drive through graduation ceremony beginning at the following times:
      • 1:00 students whose last names begin A-D
      • 1:30 students whose last names begin E-J
      • 2:00 students whose last names begin K-P
      • 2:30 students whose last names begin Q-Z
    • Feel free to decorate your car in Sky View blue and gold for the ceremony.
    • Smithfield City has agreed to close 600 South from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on May 28th.  We will ask you to approach with your family in one vehicle heading west along 600 South.  Please enter 600 South from 600 East or above. You should be able to follow the sounds of “Pomp and Circumstance—Graduation March”. You will see teachers lining 600 South giving cheers and congratulations.  Please have someone other than the graduate driving.  Our staging will be that you will stop and receive a program and name card.  The next station, the graduate will exit the car, provide the name card to the reader and line up with designated social distancing spots.  As the graduate’s name is read, they will walk across the stage, receive their diploma and any other recognition items we may normally have presented at our awards assembly.  As the graduate walks, parents will be able to take photos from their car.  After walking, the graduate will re-enter the car with the family and will be directed to continue West along 600 South to exit onto Main Street.
    • Beginning at 6:30 p.m. we will live stream our formal ceremony. You can watch the proceedings from home on Scroll down to find the Sky View graduation ceremony.  From 6:30-7:00 each graduate will be introduced with their 5 second video along with highlights from the year. At 7:00 p.m. there will be an approximate 30-35 minute presentation, where our Top Scholar, Salutatorian, Valedictorian and Principal will speak. There will be a virtual choir song and the traditional moving the tassel done by our Senior Class president, Justin Fielding. You can continue to watch and listen to this portion of the program on KSL or you can tune in to the audio portion on FM 107.7.  At the conclusion of the program, we will all rise in our homes, put our arms around each other and belt out a hearty rendition of the Sky View School song.  You can decide as a family whether or not to jump on each other at the end of the song, like our students tend to do.

We are excited to have our new class of seniors join the alumni of Bobcat nation.  It is going to be a wonderful, memorable day. It WILL be a great day to be a Bobcat! Much love and gratitude to you all. Please stay safe and healthy.  Go Bobcats!!!!
