River Heights Library Media Center
Welcome to River Heights Library!
My name is Mrs. Olsen. I am the Media Specialist at River Heights Elementary.
The library is open for 15 minutes before and after school for students to stop by and browse or checkout. Students are encouraged to return books to bins outside the library before school. They can check out new books during their scheduled library time each week or stop by before or after school. Students may take Reading Counts quizzes from home and at other times during school. Information is found on the River Heights Lab page and links are listed below.
The goals of the library are to promote a love of reading and to have students become effective learners. This goal is achieved through a three-fold plan:
Information Literacy teaches students BIG SIX problem solving skills.
Literature, both fictional and informational, leads to a life-long joy of learning and using books to pursue interests and fulfill classroom assignments.
Media Literacy uses critical thinking skills. Students are taught to analyze, question, evaluate and produce media messages.
