River Heights Library Media Center Welcome!
I am Mrs. Olsen. Welcome to River Heights Library!
The library is not open before or after school for the time being. The school is trying to find a way to allow students access but right now, we must err o the side of caution. Students are welcome to return books to bins outside the library before school. They can check out new books during their scheduled time each week or send Mrs. Olsen an email about a book. Students may take Reading Counts quizzes from home and at other times during school.
MISSION STATEMENT:
The goals of the library are to promote reading and to have students become effective learners. This goal is achieved through a three-fold plan:
Information Literacy teaches students BIG SIX problem solving skills.
Literature, both fictional and informational, leads to a life long joy of learning and using books to pursue interests and fulfill classroom assignments. The Reading Counts program is a motivational program for grades 3-5.
Media Literacy uses critical thinking skills. Students are taught to analyze, question, evaluate and produce media messages.
