IT STEM is a class (available to sophomores - seniors) in which you can complete courses toward earning a 900 hour certificate in Information Technology from Bridgerland Technical College (BTech). This class is offered at Ridgeline and all of the high schools in Cache, Logan, Box Elder and Rich school districts. Mr. Petersen facilitates this class at Ridgeline by helping with any questions and lab work. Bonnie Campbell, the teacher at Bridgerland, connects with all of the schools by way of closed circuit video and audio into the classroom, directing the course and is available to help as needed as well as visiting one of the schools each week for face-to-face instruction. This class is free as long as the student is in high school or can carry the earned credit to BTech after high school to complete the certification.

In this class, students take the following courses:

    PC Pro Hardware & Software
Raspberry Pi 1 (upon completion students get to keep their Raspberry Pi)
    Python Programming
    Mac OS Essentials
    Network Pro
    Intro to Cyber Security
    Web Essentials (HTML)
    Linux OS Essentials

After earning the 900 hour certificate, students are well prepared to obtain valuable work or continue on to college with a good base understanding of IT. Students going onto college will often work in well-paying jobs while they attend college or even get paid schooling by their employer. Students can earn many Industry Certifications in IT STEM including PC Pro, Net Pro, A+, Net+ and even others.

1-Talk to the counseling office to get the class added to your schedule.
2-If you are new to the class this year, see Mr. Petersen between August 22 and August 31 for instructions on how to register online with Bridgerland so you are ready to start when you come to class on September 4th.
3-You can join most anytime. Talk to Mr. Petersen

Class will start on Tuesday, September 4th for the 2018-19 school year in room 141 from 3:00 - 4:15 Monday-Thursday (not Friday). Most students just come right in after school and get to work by about 2:50. If you have something like an after-school club you can arrange with Mr. Petersen to do make-up time like before school, during FLEX or online at home. You are expected to put in 5 hours per week. Just talk to Mr. Petersen to make specific arrangements!
