School-Parent Policy
Nibley Elementary School will do the following to support parent involvement in the school:
Nibley Elementary will hold several annual meetings throughout the year which all parents of Nibley Elementary children are invited and encouraged to attend. These meetings will include, but not be limited to, Back-to-School Parent Night, STEAM Night and Parent Literacy Night.
Nibley Elementary will offer flexible Parent/Teacher meeting times, such as meetings in the morning or evening, to discuss student progress.
Nibley Elementary will involve parents through the School Community Council in the planning, review, and improvement of the school parental involvement policy and the joint development of the Trust Land School Plan. The School Community Council will review and approve this plan on a yearly basis.
Nibley Elementary will provide parents with a description and explanation of the curriculum in use at the school, the forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet. We will send this information in newsletters and will discuss it at our Parent Literacy Nights.
Nibley Elementary will provide assistance to parents, as appropriate, in understanding such topics as the State's academic content standards and State and local academic assessments. We will discuss this in Parent/Teacher meetings and at Parent Literacy Night and will provide information on the school website.
Nibley Elementary will provide materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve student achievement. These will be provided in Parent/Teacher meetings, at Parent Nights, in newsletters, and on the school website.
Nibley Elementary will ensure that information related to school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities are shared with parents of participating children in a newsletter found on the school website and, to the extent practicable, in a language the parents can understand.
