    Principal Parkinson

I began my teaching career in the fall of 1993 and have thoroughly loved the 25 years I spent as a classroom teacher at Sky View High School.  I began my administrative service seven years ago as the North Cache Assistant Principal.  Time has flown; I am excited to launch into my 32nd year as an educator for Cache County School District and third year as the Principal of North Cache Middle School.  My daily goal is to continue to strive to Make A DiffereNCe in the lives of our students, faculty and staff, and their families each and everyday.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends.  I am fortunate to have been married for the past 35 years and blessed with our four children, two bonus children, two beautiful granddaughters, and a handsome grandson who are my pure joy.  I love traveling to my favorite destinations being one with lots of sun, sand, & surf OR the mountains with plenty of trees and gurgling streams.  I enjoy digging my toes into the sand while listening to the surf, AND I love to fish, explore trails on an ATV, and enjoy a perfectly toasted marshmallow from a glowing campfire.

The following quote explains my WHY for coming to work everyday with purpose and a smile, “Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.” (Marian Wright Edalman).

And as always, “Remember Bulldogs, You Can Be the DiffereNCe!”

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”  -Nelson Mandela

I try to live this principle in my life. The more I learn, the more impact I feel like I am able to have on the world around me.

My name is Joshua Nelson. I grew up in Juniper, Idaho, and now currently live in Smithfield, Utah. My wife is an educator in the Cache County School District, and we have six kids who have all attended Cache Schools. I feel blessed to live in Cache Valley and love all of the outdoor activities that are available here.

I have been teaching in the Cache County School District for four years, all at South Cache Middle School. At South Cache, I was able to teach 8th-grade Writing Extension along with Utah and U.S. History. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Utah State University in Social Studies Composite Teaching, and completed my Master’s Degree in Public Administration from SUU. Before coming back to education, I farmed with my father on a 2,500-acre wheat and alfalfa farm. My experience farming taught me patience and perseverance, even when life doesn't go your way.

I am blessed to be here at North Cache, where there are so many great people who contribute to this beautiful valley. Along with each of you, I want to “be the differeNCe” in our school and in our community. As we each embrace the journey ahead, I hope you stop once in a while and enjoy the many things that are right about our great school!

    GO BULLDOGS!!!!!!!
